Launch of Vanguard Celebrated in Style
On 19 December 2019 we launched our new vessel – Vanguard.
The name Vanguard describes a position at the forefront of new developments, ideas and innovation. It also evokes the idea of being a guardian protecting and respecting our oceans’ precious resources. These themes are aligned to Maclab’s values, achievements and aspirations.
It was a full day commencing in the early morning with the Maori blessing overseen by Archdeacon Harvey Ruru, and attended by Maclab Tasman crew, owners and senior management of Maclab and representatives from local iwi.
Throughout the day the vessel was open for viewing, and later in the afternoon a formal ceremony was held at the Nelson Boathouse with guests including MP’s Honourable Damien O’Connor and Dr Nick Smith, Tasman Mayor Tim King, representatives from the aquaculture industry, business partners and iwi.
The Maclab Christmas function was held afterwards and festivities went late into the evening.
It was an eventful day marking the start of a new and exciting chapter for MacLab.
