What we do
Managing all our processes
from farm to factory, we grow
and harvest New Zealand green
lipped mussels and carefully
extract the precious
for use in health products.
Growing and harvesting
Our farms are in the Marlborough Sounds,
Tasman Bay and Golden Bay. Mussels are
grown on longline ropes which are suspended
underwater. Floats are used for buoyancy to
keep the mussels from sinking.
The time from the seeding to the harvesting
of mussel lines may take up to three years.
We are constantly monitoring the mussels
as they grow in order to harvest them in
peak condition.
At any one time across all our farms, we
might use in the vicinity of 1.5 million
metres of line to grow our mussels –
that’s approximately the distance from
Auckland to Queenstown.

Reducing
our footprint
To reduce the environmental impact of our operations, we created Greenlab, our in-house committee dedicated to sustainability. As a team, we’ve improved our recycling and waste management processes and increased our energy efficiency, while also eradicating any product waste by drying discarded mussel shells and using them as land
Processed to
perfection
Once the mussels have been harvested,
we transport them direct to our modern
manufacturing facility in Nelson for processing.
As the active compounds can be degraded by
heat or exposure to air (among other things),
our processes are highly engineered to prevent
degradation occurring, thus maintaining the
bioactive properties.

Building new relationships
As we continue to grow, we are always looking for new business opportunities to expand our supply base of mussels. If you are interested in talking please
