Remembering Bill Broadbent

We are sad to announce the peaceful passing of Bill Broadbent on 5 August 2022 at the age of 86. Bill, together with his brother Jim, founded Maclab in 1973. Bill had a particularly strong interest in Maclab’s production and processes and oversaw our operations for many years. A lot of growth occurred during his tenure, including the relocation of the factory from Auckland to Picton, and finally to Nelson where Maclab has continued to evolve into the thriving business it is today.

Maclab owes its incredible success to the forward-thinking and strong leadership provided by Bill and Jim. Bill’s legacy at Maclab is continued by his son Andrew who is Maclab’s Managing Director.

Our thoughts are with the Broadbent family at this sad time.

MacLab leads the way in the nutraceutical market. We use sustainable practices to farm mussels in the top of the South for processing into high value products at our modern factory in Tahunanui.
