We are proud to introduce the Grey Heron as we continue our journey to expand our aquaculture operations. The Grey Heron will play a crucial role in performing crop inspections across our portfolio as well as providing farm flotation services in the Tasman and Golden Bay areas.

Capable of travelling at 30 knots per hour, this vessel can efficiently cover multiple farms in a single day, significantly boosting our operational efficiency.

More importantly, the addition of Grey Heron creates valuable career advancement opportunities. MacLab Tasman’s long-serving skippers Hone Abrahams and Brad Larson have transitioned from the Vanguard to operate Grey Heron, while Callan Kotua and Aidan Russ step into senior skipper and senior deckhand roles on the Vanguard.

On a related note, a special shout-out also goes to Josh Spooner, senior deckhand on the Vanguard, for receiving the MFA “Recent Entrant” award.
