Major Processing Capacity Expansion Completed
We have just completed a major overhaul and capacity expansion project at our Nelson factory, marking a significant achievement in our ongoing pursuit of growth and operational excellence.
This large, complex project required 18 months of planning and three and a half months of construction in a tight timeframe between processing seasons, with up to 68 contractors on site at peak. Thanks to the expertise and dedication of our teams and contractors, the expansion was completed on time and within budget.
This undertaking demanded precise coordination and disciplined execution. Each aspect of the build was meticulously planned and managed to meet stringent timelines and technical standards to ensure a successful deployment and to minimise disruption for our next processing season.
The expansion boosts processing capacity and allows us to scale production to meet future demand. Design upgrades minimise wastage, improve process flow, and reliability, leading to more efficient operations and higher production uptime.
The project also delivers tangible benefits for our staff, including a safer and improved work environment.
We are grateful to the many people who contributed to this project’s success. Special thanks are due to our dedicated staff, especially our leaders and talented engineers, for their exceptional efforts under pressure. We also acknowledge Beca, our consulting engineers and project manager, for exemplary leadership and coordination; Scott’s Construction for their workmanship and construction management; JBT, Trinders Engineers and Nelson Electrical for their technical contributions; and all of the many contractors and service providers that were involved. The success of the project was due to the professionalism, expertise, teamwork and hard work of all involved, and we are looking forward to building on this success.
